Realtime captioning a hit at New York City programming conference

Mirabai Knight, RDR, CRR, CBC, CCP, recently captioned !!Con (pronounced bang bang con), a conference for New York City programmers held May 17 – 18, according to a post by Lindsey Kuper on her blog composition.al . The organizers of the event, Kuper among them, hired Knight when they realized one of the speakers, Darius Bacon, had lost a hearing aid. The realtime captioning was well-received by conference-goers, as confirmed by posts on Twitter, and led to a written record of the talks, available online after the event. Knight also had the opportunity throughout the event to give demonstrations of her software and steno machine, garnering more interest in the profession.
