NCRA Past President Judy Brentano passes away

JudyBrentanoNCRA Past President Judy Brentano, RPR (Ret.), of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away on Sept. 18. Brentano served as president of NCRA from 1992 to 1993 and was honored with NCRA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2004. She was also a past president of the Georgia Shorthand Reporters Association and was recognized as a pioneer in the field of captioning.

Since her retirement, Brentano served as the CEO and COO of TEAM Punta Gorda and played a critical role in helping revive and rebuild the City of Punta Gorda after a devastating hurricane in 2004.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Brentano, who also served as NCRA president. They were married 38 years and were one of only two pairs of married couples who both served as presidents of NCRA.

A memorial celebration of Judy Brentano’s life will be held at a date yet to be determined in October at the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association.
