NCRF recruits record number of 2017 Angels at 2016 Convention

NCRF kicked off its 2017 Angels Drive at NCRA’s Convention & Expo in Chicago with a record 66 Angels signing up on site, including 10 brand-new Angels.

“The atmosphere at the annual convention in Chicago was fantastic. I believe the excitement and enthusiasm generated at this event helped to fuel our Angel-gathering engine,” said Tammey Pastor, RPR, a retired reporter from Chandler, Ariz., and chair of the Angels Committee. “We now have a record number of Angels for this time of year, and we’re hoping this will be the best year ever!”

Each year at the NCRA convention, NCRF promotes the current-year Angels and asks donors to sign up for the next year so that donors can have more than a full year of promotion and thanks. When NCRF started doing this, about 10 Angels signed up for the next year. The previous record number of Angels signing up at Convention was set in San Francisco in 2014, with 61 Angels making the commitment to support the Foundation.

“Re-signing existing Angels is always easier. These are people who already know the joy of giving back and love the Foundation’s programs,” said Pastor. “Recruiting new Angels is where the Angel Committee really goes to work. When we educate our members on all our wonderful programs, we see the spark. Mentioning our Veterans’ Oral Histories Program is always met with curiosity and much appreciation. Of course, none of our programs is possible without the generosity of our members.”

The 100 percent tax-deductible contributions to the program are used to help NCRF support the court reporting and captioning professions through philanthropic activities, including student scholarships, championing court reporter technologies, and encouraging the historic preservation of important stories through the Library of Congress Veterans History Program and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Angel donors may pledge at any time during the year. If you are interested in learning more about the Angels program, or becoming an Angel yourself, please visit NCRA.org/Angels or contact April Weiner, Foundation Manager, at aweiner@ncra.org.
