The Republic/azcentral.com reported Oct. 16 that the Arizona Cardinals and the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority will provide text captioning on video boards to accommodate deaf and partially deaf fans at the University of Phoenix Stadium this season. The captioning system is the result of a year’s worth of planning and refinement, shaped in large part by a lawsuit brought by a Mesa resident and advocate for the deaf. The move ensures that fans of the Cardinals football team who have difficulty hearing the public-address system will now have the ability to read the play-by-play information as games are in progress.
