According to an April 21 article on Philly.com, area movie theaters are now getting the technology to provide captions for theater-goers who are hearing impaired. Advocates had been pushing for captions for years, but the switch from traditional film projectors to digital projection systems has made it easier for theaters to afford to do so. Along with captions, some theaters are able to offer audio headsets for consumers who are blind. Both types of technology have allowed patrons to have an easier time following along with a film.
