Tim Alves and his team at WGBH’s Media Access Group explained the process behind providing closed captions for news and entertainment programs to the Boston Globe in a July 23 article. Alves noted that live events, such as the Grammys and the CBS news, are written by steno-captioners, calling them extremely skilled and very focused.
