Be part of the test: NCRA’s new learning center

NCRA’s Professional Development Department is seeking members to help test the Association’s new Learning Management System (LMS). Register now and be one of the 50 lucky NCRA members to take advantage of this live webinar titled Navigating Through Windows 10 Control Panel for a special rate of just $10 and earn 0.1 CEU. Registration opens May 5 and closes on May 14 at 5 p.m. Eastern.

The webinar is being offered from 7 to 8 p.m. Eastern on May 20 and is being led by Kenya Herring, an IT specialist at a consulting firm in downtown Washington, D.C., where her current project entails administering and maintaining web systems in the Amazon Web Services cloud for the city’s Health Information Exchange. At the NCRA Spring Fling, a session led by Herring also about Windows drew more than 200 attendees.

The session will cover the many options Microsoft is pushing out of the control panel and into a new menu simply called Settings. During this hands-on webinar, attendees will learn how to use the control panel and settings menu in Windows 10. The session will also cover the most common uses for adjusting settings and personalization apps, such as system security, user accounts, network and internet, privacy, and more.

Herring, who was born and raised in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, showed an affinity for technology that developed into an acuity for computer science and mathematics at an early age. Throughout her years growing up, her parents would enroll her in STEM summer camps that exposed young adults to technologies such as computer programming and robotics. Being exposed to technology at an early age inspired Herring to pursue a career in information technology.

In December of 2019, Herring graduated with a bachelor of science in computer technology with a concentration in system administration from Bowie State University in Bowie, Md. She was blessed to be able to pursue her degree with partial funding through scholarships with her largest amount coming from the popular database management company Oracle.

“We are excited to invite members to help us test our new learning center and are excited about this new platform that will bring all our continuing education opportunities under one roof,” said NCRA Senior Director of Education and Certification Cynthia Bruce Andrews.

Remember, space is limited to 50 NCRA members so register now to be part of the test. For more information, contact learningcenter@ncra.org.
