An article in the Wichita Falls (Texas) Times Record News on Nov. 1 reported that Wichita County Commissioners voted to raise pay for court reporters in the county’s three district courts and two courts at law. Although the vote was not without controversy, the commissioners agreed to allow judges to immediately pay their reporters up to $100,000 annually in the district courts and $99,000 in the courts at law, noting that some counties smaller than Wichita County are paying their court reporters more, making it harder for local courts to find even substitute reporters to fill in.
