Students are encouraged to apply for the National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF) quarterly Career Launcher Student Grants. The grants cover the cost to participate in the student program, which is $100 for members and $175 for nonmembers. The next quarterly deadline is April 14.
The NCRF Career Launcher training program was created to serve as a bridge and provide tips of the trade for students and new professionals between graduation and their first job. Candidates who participate in the program, offered through the NCRA Learning Center, create a transcript, self-assess their transcript, and complete a five-question quiz.
In January 2022 NCRF began awarding grants that cover Career Launcher program fees for students. The first group of grant awardees was announced live via Facebook in January. Five to seven winners will be selected each quarter.
Students interested in applying for the grant must meet the following criteria: Affirm they are currently a court reporting student enrolled in a court reporting school and/or can provide verification that they have passed one skills test at 180 wpm or higher. Further information and an application form can be found here. Completed applications will be entered into a drawing to take place on April 15, 2022. Applications not drawn as winners will be included in future quarterly drawings.
