You can help launch the career of a student (or students!) by donating to help them attend the 2022 NCRA Conference & Expo being held July 21-24 in Orlando, Fla. Last year more than 160 students attended the Conference in Las Vegas, Nev. Let’s exceed that number this year!
Donations can range from $25, $50, or $100, to the entire student registration of $250. Individual donations are combined to offset the Conference costs, which allows students to pay the reduced fee. Students get access to all sessions and events except for the Member Recognition Gala, although at past Conferences attendees have donated their tickets to students who wish to attend the Saturday night event. Sponsorship donations can be made at the time of online Conference registration or on site at the NCRA registration desk. Donations can also be made by texting the keyword student2022 to 41444 or by using this link.
“Students who have attended an NCRA Conference will tell you it was motivating, attitude-changing,” says Jason Meadors, FAPR, RPR, CRR, CRC, NCRA President-Elect and a freelancer and CART captioner in Fort Collins, Colo. “They leave feeling charged with renewed vigor to complete their schooling and with new friends and networking for their career. NCRA needs your help with sponsorships to enable students to attend the Conference, be energized to launch into their new career, and to join the ranks as our colleagues, bearing the torch of our hallowed profession.”
This year’s student track includes five sessions designed especially for them by the NCRA Student/Teacher Committee: Meanwhile, In the Real World; Ready, Set, Practice; Student Fast Pass to Your New Profession; Ships Ahoy! and Steno Speed Dating. Students are also invited to a Student Breakfast and Welcome and a special luncheon.
“When I was a student,” says Margary Rogers, RPR, CRI, an official court reporter and CART captioner based in Washington, D.C., “Carl Sauceda, FAPR, RMR (Ret.), and a lot of people just took me in and when I came to the Conference, they welcomed me and that felt so good. And I know the students feel so loved here because we take care of them. That’s my favorite part of the Conference – is that the students are happy.”
Full registration for those working in the profession includes access to all concurrent seminars being held Friday through Sunday; the Teachers Workshop; a three-day Expo Hall pass; and tickets to the Opening Reception on Thursday, the Premier Session and keynote on Friday, the Awards Luncheon on Saturday afternoon, and the Member Recognition Gala on Saturday evening. Full registration attendees can earn up to 1.275 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
In addition, full registration includes a free breakfast on Friday and Saturday for those staying in the host hotel. Book your room at the Hyatt Regency Orlando by June 27, and take advantage of the special rates being offered for Conference attendees.
