NCRA member Denee’ Vadell, RPR, an official court reporter and CART captioner from Edison, N.J., has been volunteering for the last three years of her career at the national level. She currently serves as chair of NCRA’s Members, Marketing, and Outreach Committee. She is also a member of the Brand Ambassadors Committee, which is tasked with sharing the brand and mission of NCRA and court reporting and captioning by reposting and commenting on Association news, news of the profession, culture/brand personality meme images, NCRA events, and more throughout their own platforms and followings. In the past she has also served on NCRA’s Technology Committee.
She is motivated to volunteer because she said it is important to her to give back to a profession that has given her so much.
“Volunteering allows me to connect with like-minded individuals and build a sense of community. Working together towards a common goal creates a strong sense of camaraderie and fosters meaningful relationships,” Vadell said. “The gratification I experience from volunteering stems from the ability to make a positive impact, learn and grow, connect with others, and thrive in my purpose,” she added.
Active at the state level as well, Vadell serves as a First Department Director for the New York State Court Reporters Association, on its Board of Directors, and as a past member of its Convention Committee.
Outside of NCRA, Vadell is also part of the Steno in the City team and volunteers to speak to steno students when asked by other associations and groups.
“Volunteering for your association is a way to give back and support your steno community. It allows you to make a difference and contribute to something larger than yourself,” Vadell explained. “Through your volunteer work, you can help create positive change and improve the lives of others.”
Vadell encourages others to tap into their strengths when volunteering because volunteering allows you to actively contribute to the success and growth of your association.
“We all have something to offer. By dedicating your time, skills, and expertise, you can help your association achieve its goals and objectives more effectively.”
