Students are encouraged to apply for the National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF) quarterly Career Launcher Student Scholarships. The awards cover the cost to participate in the student program, which is $100 for members and $175 for nonmembers. Interested students can apply for the next drawing by the deadline of June 14.
The NCRF Career Launcher training program is designed to provide deposition training tips of the trade. These will serve as a bridge for students of steno shorthand and new professionals between graduation and their first job. The program is offered through the NCRA Learning Center.
Students who are actively studying to become stenographic court reporters and testing at 180 wpm or higher are encouraged to apply. Full details on eligibility and an application can be found here.
“As the Chair of NCRF, I encourage anyone eligible for a Career Launcher Scholarship to submit their application,” said Doug Friend, FAPR, RDR, CRR (Ret.). “The Career Launcher modules can be an invaluable step in ensuring your success as you move from the cocoon of school life into the real world of deposition reporting. Take advantage of every opportunity to upgrade your hard AND soft skills!”
Completed applications will be entered into a drawing to take place after the June 14 deadline. Winners will receive an email with a redeemable certificate to take the Career Launcher program at any time. Scholarship applicants who are not selected will remain eligible to win in future drawings, and Career Launcher Scholarships will continue to be available quarterly.
Since January 2022 NCRF has been awarding grants that cover the Career Launcher program fees for students. Five to seven winners are selected each quarter.
