Empower your profession: Serve on the NCRA Board of Directors

Our Association thrives on the dedication and contributions of its members. As a community powered by volunteers, we recognize that every member brings unique strengths, talents, and knowledge. When shared, these qualities can significantly impact our Association and the broader stenographic profession.

We encourage you to consider serving on the NCRA Board of Directors or nominating someone you respect and admire. By taking on a leadership role, you can help shape the future of our profession, ensuring that current and future stenographic court reporters, captioners, and videographers have a strong and supportive association.

Nominations open September 1.

Why Serve on the NCRA Board?

Serving on the Board is not just about leadership; it is an opportunity to expand and strengthen your network of peers and increase NCRA’s influence within the legal profession. As a Board member, you will be at the forefront of guiding the Association’s direction and initiatives, making a lasting difference for all members.

According to Article III, Section 9 (c) of the NCRA Constitution & Bylaws, only Registered Members who are verbatim stenographic reporters and/or stenographic captioners, Retired Members, Retired Lifetime Members, or Honorary Members who have been verbatim stenographic reporters and/or stenographic captioners are eligible to hold an elective office.

Who Can Recommend Candidates?

Only voting members of NCRA can submit individuals for candidacy. This includes Participating Members, Registered Members, Retired Members, Retired Lifetime Members, and Honorary Members who have been verbatim stenographic reporters and/or stenographic captioners.

With NCRA’s membership of nearly 12,000 members and a budget of $5 million, it is crucial for candidates to have experience as a director to understand and fulfill the responsibilities of these roles.

The Election Process

The Nominating Committee, as outlined in the Constitution and Bylaws, meets at least 90 days before the annual election to create a slate of nominees for the following offices:

  • President-Elect
  • Vice President
