Mississippi is facing a shortage of court reporters, making it difficult for courts to find professionals to document trial proceedings. Without accurate transcripts, appeals are at risk. On Sep 9, 2024, WTVA Tupelo reported some courts have even resorted to using Zoom to connect with reporters. To address the issue, Northeast Mississippi Community College is working to develop a program that will train new professionals and meet the growing demand.
