William DeVries, RDR, CRR, a freelancer from Edwardsville, Ill., is the winner of a $300 Amazon gift card from NCRA for renewing his membership in the month of September. DeVries says he always renews his NCRA membership along with any state certifications the day they arrive via email or snail mail. “Some things you do not procrastinate about,” he says.
DeVries first learned about court reporting when he was 13 years old. “I was typing 90 words a minute after two months of my freshman typing class,” he says. “My business teacher suggested the profession, as her best friend was a court reporter,” he adds.
“NCRA membership was impressed upon me very early (shout out to SIUC court reporting early ’90s!) as the gold standard for not just a national recognition beyond state certifications, but as the voice nationwide of our profession.” Now, over his 30-plus years as an NCRA member, Devries has seen a lot of changes in the profession. “I trust NCRA to always do the right things for its members, now more than ever,” he says.
Members are encouraged to renew their membership online. All NCRA members who renew before the end of October will be entered to win a $200 Amazon gift card. Members will also receive a graphic to proudly display on social media or as an email banner to let others know they have renewed early.
