#NCRAGR Alert: New Mexico enacts 60 percent rate increase in major win for stenographic court reporters

The New Mexico Supreme Court issued Out-of-Cycle Rule Amendments which took effect last month, increasing page rates by 60 percent for civil cases with an appeal from $3.50 to $5.60 per 25-line page for transcribing proceedings, and from $3.25 to $5.20 if there is no appeal. Criminal cases saw an increase from $2.50 to $4.00 per page in appeal cases and an increase to $3.20 in no appeal cases which is up from $2.00.

“The full text of the amendments in markup format and the related rules and administrative orders are available on the Court’s website here. The approved rule amendments will also be available on NMOneSource.com…” wrote Elizabeth A. Garcia, Chief Clerk of Court of the New Mexico Supreme Court, in an email announcing the out-of-cycle rule changes.
