Tech Comm: Planning some Black Friday shopping? Here are some ideas

We’ve noticed that the Black Friday deals have already started! Since early in November, many stores and websites, such as Walmart, Target, BestBuy, and Amazon.com have been offering deals on products, especially computers and headphones that may be useful in your everyday work. You may want to snap up some of these deals and stock up for 2025.

The NCRA Technology Committee has once again perused the brochures to see what deals might be useful for you. Perhaps you are looking at your setup and thinking about getting an extra computer now, so you have a good backup for next year. Or perhaps now is a good time to look for discounts on a new pair of headphones or stock up on some cables. Whatever you are looking for, we’ve got a few recommendations from our intrepid Tech Committee members:

Here are few of the Tech Committee’s Black Friday suggestions.

First off, Advantage Software has very good Black Friday deals, and it’s not just Eclipse but also computers, audio, and Boost boxes. This is a great way to get the most of your end-of-year push to benefit your taxes.

Some computers and laptops to check into:

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 (16″ Intel) | AI-tuned gaming domination | 83DF00APUS | Lenovo US: This is a very good computer at an awesome 32 percent off for Black Friday. It’s the perfect time to buy one.

Apple iPad Mini (A15 Bionic): “Amazon is having 35 percent off on iPads, so this weekend of deals is the perfect time of year to buy iPads and tablets to provide realtime to clients,” says Technology Committee Chair Suzanne Trimble, CCR, RPR, CRR. Or see if Best Buy has the iPad model you prefer.

Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop: Order from the Dell site and customize you laptop order.

Headphones

Sony WH-1000XM5 at BestBuy. Features: Wireless over-ear headphones with industry-leading noise cancellation, up to 30 hours of battery life, and optional wired connection.

Bose QuietComfort 45 at Amazon. Features: Wireless over-ear headphones with world-class noise cancellation, up to 24 hours of battery life, and optional wired connection.

Beats Studio3 Wireless at Walmart. Features: Wireless over-ear headphones with active noise cancellation, up to 22 hours of battery life, and optional wired connection.

Miscellaneous

For those Apple lovers out there, you would always want to watch for deals on Apple products, like the Apple Watch or Apple Air Tags (Amazon is running deals on those).

Not an Apple person? The Samsung Galaxy Watch will be featured for about $240 at both Amazon and Samsung.

“Costco is a superb place to buy tech items because of their return policy. They are having nice discounts on many tech items,” reminds Trimble. (See Costco’s deals.)

If you haven’t seen something you’ve had your eye on for a while, there are plenty of places offering deals on Black Friday and even on Cyber Monday – for deals online that you might have missed out on in person (if you still shop that way).
