Do you know a court reporter or captioner who embodies the spirit of altruism? Merriam-Webster defines the quality as “the unselfish regard for or devotion to the welfare of others.” Nominations are now open for The Jim Bouley Family Lifetime Award for Altruism, an award honoring a member who has given back to the community and the profession with no expectation of reward. The National Court Reporters Foundation’s Altruism Award stands as its most prestigious honor, celebrating the profound impact that the winner has made within our professional world and beyond.
Nominees for this award must be a court reporter or captioner with at least 25 years of experience who has demonstrated altruistic behavior, self-sacrifice, and a commitment to the well-being of others. The deadline to submit nominations is May 2.
The 2024 Jim Bouley Family Lifetime Award for Altruism was awarded to Debbie Dibble, FAPR, RDR, CRR, CRC, a freelance court reporter and broadcast captioner from Salt Lake City, Utah. The announcement was made at a special awards luncheon at the 2024 NCRA Conference & Expo. Dibble’s generosity extends beyond the profession and into the community and around the globe.
“Few people can match Debbie’s record of volunteerism: Board service, offering her tech expertise, writing articles for the JCR, representing our profession at outside events and conventions, Career Launcher, and her service to STRONG,” wrote Elizabeth Harvey, FAPR, RPR, a freelance court reporter from Seattle, Wash., one of several of her colleagues who nominated her for the award.
Full award requirements and a nomination form can be found on the Altruism Award page. Members recommending nominees must submit new and complete applications. Submissions from previous years do not qualify.
