NCRA is pleased to announce that the registration period and hotel room block for the 2025 NCRA Leadership and Legislative Boot Camp has been extended through January 17. Additional seminars and a subject expert panel dedicated to maximizing the reach of the Association’s government relations efforts have also been announced. The annual event is set to take place Feb. 2-4.
“When planning this year’s event, we really wanted to incorporate some of the wish list items members provided in their feedback from previous years,” said Colin Brehm, NCRA’s State Government Relations Manager. “That included learning more about the political aspect of advocacy, political action committee management, grassroots organizing, and storytelling across various platforms.”
This will be the first time a panel of outside subject experts has been made available for attendees to not just hear from, but to engage with during a Q & A session to answer questions members may have. Topics and panels members include:
- Political Action Committee (PAC) fundraising, Hanna Pelletier
A skilled government relations professional specializing in PAC management, political fundraising, and advocacy. In their role as Government Relations Manager at ICSC, Hanna oversees disbursements to Members of Congress, coordinates high-profile PAC events, and drives donor engagement initiatives all over the country. They spearhead innovative efforts to expand PAC visibility such as developing new events, managing candidate endorsements, and facilitating in-district fundraisers to support legislative priorities. With a proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders and execute strategic fundraising campaigns, Hanna plays a critical role in advancing ICSC’s public policy goals.
- Grassroots organization and mobilization, Yint Hmu
Yint Hmu is an experienced and versatile political operative with backgrounds in Democratic campaigns and foreign policy. He most recently served as Trips Director for Harris for President in the battleground state of North Carolina. Prior to the 2024 elections, he was the Campaigns Manager at Win Without War, a D.C.-based progressive foreign policy advocacy organization.
- Storytelling through media, Farahn Morgan
Farahn Morgan is an essayist and journalist living and working in the Appalachian Mountains. She is a contributing writer for County Highway where she covers Appalachian and Southern culture, the new economy, and the politics of place. For more than a decade she has worked as a communications consultant supporting federal and state officials, nonprofit organizations, and privately and publicly held businesses. She is a student of traditional agricultural practices and a lover of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Attendees will also participate in a conversation with Charlottesville, Va.-based attorney and former U.S. House of Representatives Legislative Director Elliott Harding, an active trial and appellate litigator in Virginia and in federal court. Elliott currently serves as outside advisory counsel to several members of the Virginia General Assembly. He will discuss areas within the law from a trial, appellate, and a judge’s perspective that would further the cause of judicial integrity vis-à-vis stenographic court reporting. Audience participation will be encouraged.
This year’s event also includes a keynote address from Virginia Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon L. Taylor. A respected figure in the realm of criminal justice, Taylor will explore critical themes of “Justice for All” in her address, including the emergence of Artificial Intelligence in the legal system, the ongoing efforts toward criminal justice reform, and the enduring importance of judicial integrity.
After a day advocating with elected officials and their staff, participants will attend a dinner reception at Hunan Dynasty, a Capitol Hill hotspot where D.C.’s powerbrokers go to be seen and to share their experiences. Attendees will also be eligible to win exclusive souvenirs found only in the official House of Representatives and Senate gift shops during their debriefing prior to returning to Old Town Alexandria.
Members are encouraged to register for Boot Camp and make their hotel reservations as soon as possible as a limited number of rooms are available through the January 17 extension on a first-come-first-served basis.
