NCRA has submitted comments in response to the Federal Register’s request for information on the development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Plan. The National Science Foundation entered the request for comments into the Feb. 6 edition of the Federal Register which serves as the official daily publication for the rules, regulations, and notices from the U. S. federal government.
The request was flagged by NCRA member Sierra Zanghi, RSR, a freelancer from Bothell, Wash. Per the entry, an Executive Order signed by President Donald J. Trump on Jan. 23 seeks relevant information for America’s AI dominance.
“Effective advocacy begins with our members,” said NCRA President Keith R. Lemons, FAPR, RPR, CRR (Ret.). “Thanks to this member’s due diligence, we now have a rare opportunity to directly contribute to President Trump’s AI Action Plan.”
In the notice the National Science Foundation disclosed it is seeking input from the world of academia, various industry groups, private sector organizations, the public, as well as state, local, and tribal governments, and any other interested parties, on priority actions that should be included in the Plan.
“Protecting the judicial integrity of America’s legal system and maintaining public trust in our courts are core to achieving the President’s objective of American dominance of AI,” said Colin Brehm, NCRA State Government Relations Manager. “Although emerging technologies are increasingly competent tools for myriad tasks, the serious responsibilities of court reporting must not be among them.”
