The Carl Sauceda Grant pays tribute to Carl Sauceda, FAPR, RMR (Ret.), of Hayward, Calif., who served as NCRA President from 1999 to 2000. Sauceda’s commitment to fostering professional growth and giving back to the community remains an enduring inspiration.

The $2,000 grant recognizes a deserving NCRA member who has uplifted others and influenced rising court reporters or captioners in their careers.

Past winners have included members like Denee Vadell, RPR, an official court reporter from Edison, N.J. Vadell runs the successful and ever-popular @StenoFluencer Instagram account.

Visit the NCRA website for more information about how to submit your nomination before March 28.

The NCRF Court to CART Grant is awarded every year to a member interested in broadening their skill set to providing CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) for people with hearing loss or for nonnative English speakers. The grant winner will receive a $1,500 grant, an assessment of their realtime skills, and instruction about current CART technology. Hands-on training will be provided as well as the chance to learn from applicable existing NCRA videos.

“As I am now over halfway into the shadowing portion of my time with the Court to CART Grant, I can attest to the great blessing receiving this training has been and am so grateful for it,” said Jacey Samic, RPR, CRR, an official reporter from Doylestown, Ohio and the 2024 Court to CART grant winner.
