Unlocking the full value of your NCRA membership: Finding community in digital spaces

Welcome to the next in our series of articles focusing on all benefits available to you as an NCRA member. If you missed it, do yourself a favor and take a look at all the year-round education opportunities we make available to members.

In this month’s column, we will be looking at how your membership benefits apply to social media. NCRA maintains profiles on multiple social media platforms and you can engage with us on any of them. Our focus today is on the grandaddy of all social media platforms: Facebook.

If you’re not aware, you can find NCRA on Facebook at /NCRAfb. This page is a public platform, available for anyone to follow or subscribe to regardless of their NCRA membership status. There you will find news and updates about NCRA happenings as well as interesting features about our members and the profession at large.

Facebook also offers a “Groups” feature, which enables users, both individuals and organizations, to use the platform to establish places where people who share a common interest can connect and engage. Group members share content in much the same way they might on their own individual feed. This feature also provides the ability to make the group closed or public and allows administrators of the groups to establish rules, guidelines, and membership eligibility criteria.

Any Facebook user or organization can start a group.

Over the years NCRA has established and fostered several of these Facebook groups, which we will detail below. As a current NCRA member, you are entitled to join any or all of our groups after answering a few questions to help us verify your membership.

The purpose of all NCRA Facebook groups is to provide a private, closed digital space for NCRA members to connect with and engage with one another. We think you’ll find them to be supportive places where you can share updates, promote events, and encourage constructive dialogue among your fellow members.

The groups NCRA manages are as follows:

Each group has specific rules and guidelines to follow, and the administrators periodically post reminders about each group’s rules and regulations. And, as always, you can connect with NCRA via direct message or by email at social@ncra.org with any questions you may have.

The Official Reporters group is open to all current NCRA members

If you’re a Facebook user looking for a private place on the platform dedicated to your professional interests, we think NCRA groups may be just what you need. This is an exclusive benefit, and we strongly encourage you to take advantage of it.

Speaking of benefits! Don’t forget to register for the 2025 NCRA Conference & Expo in Minneapolis, Minn., this July 24-26! Registration is now open. View the detailed schedule and register by May 15 to take advantage of Early Bird pricing.

We hope to see you online in one of our many FB groups!
