Last week, the U.S. Senate confirmed the nominations of Tom Wheeler, who will take on the role of chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, and Michael O’Rielly, who will fill a vacant Republican commissioner seat. Wheeler, a former telecommunications and wireless phone lobbyist, will serve a five-year term. O’Rielly had previously served as an adviser to Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn from Texas.
