Register by May 31 for the 2021 NCRA Conference & Expo being held July 29–Aug. 1 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev., and save $50 on registration fees. Registrants can also take the opportunity to invest in the future of the court reporting profession by making a small donation to help an NCRA student member attend the Conference.
NCRA combines all donations received that can range from $25, $50, $100, $150, or an entire student registration of $175. The donated amount offsets the meeting cost, which allows students to pay the reduced fee. They attend all events except for the Member Recognition Gala, although attendees have donated their tickets in the past for any student who wishes to attend. Donations can be made at the time of online Conference registration or on site at the NCRA registration desk. Donations can also be made by texting 41444 with the keyword welcomestudent, or use this link.
“We need your help! This year we have a significant number of students registered to attend the Conference happening in Las Vegas later this summer. Isn’t that wonderful news? Here is where the ask comes in … we do not have enough to cover all of their registrations with the donations we have received thus far,” said NCRA President Christine Phipps, RPR.
“It’s May and the Conference will be here before we all know it. Please join me in helping to make their experience one that lasts into their future by sponsoring a student Conference registration. Not only does a Conference experience help build a student’s confidence and their drive to succeed, but it also inspires them to become a member of the NCRA community and understand the importance of giving back to the profession. You and I know that each of us create a magical experience at Conference for students, one that makes them feel like they found their people. It might be the little something extra that drives them to finish school, join us in the ranks, and pay it forward to our future,” she added.
This year’s student track includes an array of educational and networking opportunities designed to help boost the careers of student attendees. The student registration includes access to all student track seminars, a three-day pass to the Expo Hall, a Meet & Greet with members of the NCRA Board of Directors, a ticket to the Opening Reception, the Premier Session with keynote speaker Debbi Fields, and a ticket to the Awards Luncheon.
Sessions being offered this year include Student Speed Dating, Who wants to be a Captionnaire?, Speed Building Through Cinema, and Practicing for Cleaner and Speedier Writing!
Other highlights include the National Speed and Realtime Contests and a Guinness Challenge to see if the current world record speed of 360 words per minute at a 97.23 percent accuracy rate set in 2004 can be broken.
The early access rate is $600 for NCRA members and $900 for nonmembers, which is a savings of $50, and it’s just $5 more than the rates offered for the 2017 NCRA Convention & Expo that was held at the same venue. In addition, full registration includes a free breakfast on Friday and Saturday. You can also take advantage of special rates being offered by booking your room by July 2 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
Full registration includes access to all concurrent seminars being held Friday through Sunday, the Teachers Workshop, a three-day Expo Hall pass, and tickets to the Opening Reception being held on Thursday, the Premier Session and keynote being held on Friday, the Awards Luncheon on Saturday afternoon, and the Member Recognition Gala on Saturday evening. And attendees can earn up to 1.2 continuing education credits.
