Australian court reporters face outsourcing challenges Australian courts in New South Wales are proposing outsourcing the court reporting function of the courts, according to a Feb. 28 article in The Australian. The local court reporters have urged attorneys, who will be the ones most affected by the change, to point out the shortfalls of the change.
“Our research from Queensland has given evidence of the severe decline in their reporting service since the Queensland Government outsourced its State Reporting Bureau some 12 months ago, together with the concerns arising from the judiciary and the legal profession as a consequence,” wrote Sadie Spencer, the senior court reporter for the Court Reporters Branch, in a letter to the chief of the New South Wales Bar Association.
