These scholarships and grants are supported by donations to the National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF) from working court reporters and captioners, some of whom are also NCRA members. Over the course of 2021, the Foundation awarded $20,000 through these different scholarships and grants. So far, donations secured for 2022 will allow NCRF to continue to support court reporting and captioning students and new professionals into the future.
The Foundation recently announced a new grant program to aid court reporting students as they bridge to their professional careers: The new Career Launcher Student Grants. Through this new program, NCRF will be offering five to seven grants each quarter that will cover the cost for students to participate in the Career Launcher program.
NCRF also announced a new grant named for Carl Sauceda, a past NCRA President. Details on criteria will come in early 2022.
In addition to scholarships, NCRF Angels and other donors support the future of the court reporting and captioning professions in a number of ways, including:
- Student recruitment through the NCRA A to Z Intro to Steno Machine Shorthand program
- Student education and new professional education, such as the NCRF Career Launcher program, offered through the Corrinne Clark Professionalism Institute
