Karen Santucci, CRI, a court reporting instructor and school administrator from Forest Hills, N.Y., was named 2024 Educator of the Year. The announcement was made at NCRA’s 2024 Conference & Expo held Aug 1-3 at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Ky.
NCRA’s CASE (Council on Approved Student Education) Award of Excellence recognizes the important role student education plays in the court reporting profession and honors educators for their dedication and outstanding achievement and leadership. Recipients are nominated by an NCRA member.
Santucci holds the nationally recognized professional certification of Certified Reporter Instructor (CRI) and is an experienced dedicated court reporting educator with more than 20 years of expertise in the teaching field. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Plaza College, in Queens, N.Y., and started her court reporting career working in the Queens County District Attorney’s office assisting the grand jury court reporters. Santucci moved on to teach at the Business Informatics Center and the Long Island Business Institute before joining Plaza College. She has worked in all capacities developing and implementing course curriculum, teaching theory and speed building, and directing court reporting faculty.
Santucci is also an active member of NCRA and regularly participates in industry conferences and workshops to stay current with the latest advancements and best practices. She has also served on NCRA’s A to Z® and Student/Teacher Committees. She is also a member of the New York State Court Reporters Association where she currently holds the position of Vice President.
