Generational shifts in the workplace addressed in new on-demand webinar

Jessica Stollings-Holder

Do you know the difference between Generations X, Y, and Z? What are the defining characteristics of iGen, also known as “Screeners”? These distinctions matter not only around the dinner table and in other social settings, but at work as well. The NCRA Learning Center brings you its latest on-demand webinar, “Generational Fluencey: Understand and Communicate Across Generations,” recorded live at the NCRA Conference & Expo in Louisville this summer.

Jessica Stollings-Holder, a national speaker, trainer, author, and coach, presented this popular session based on her groundbreaking work in generational diversity. She includes tips on understanding and engaging each generation in the workforce and shares tools to harness their collective strengths. “This topic is important,” she says, “as we are undergoing a massive generational shift in the workplace today. What is work? How do we work? How do we communicate with each other?”

The appeal of the topic was so broad that the session was included in both the Firm Owners Focus and as a general session at the Conference.

“This year I particularly liked the seminar on the different generations, particularly learning that how they grew up impacts who they are today, and how the different generations relate in the workplace,” said Lori Heaphy, RPR, CRMS, owner of Lori Heaphy & Associates, LLC, based in Lafayette, La., who attended the session as part of Firm Owners Focus. “This seminar will help me be more informed when relating to the younger employees and younger court reporters.”

Lisa Colston, RPR, owner of Sworn Testimony, PLLC, and GameDay Captions, LLC, based in Frankfurt, Ky., also attended the session. “The topic is at the foundation of our company’s trajectory,” she said, “and educating ourselves on the differences between generations allows a better understanding of how best to meet the needs of the professionals we grow into the future.”

The on-demand webinar will be of interest to all members who have an interest in bridging generation gaps at home, with friends, and in the workplace. “This is not about stereotyping different generations,” says Stollings-Holder, “because each of us is incredibly unique. This is about emotional intelligence – generational style. Learn to view generations as a lens, not a label.”
