Join Kathryn Dittmeier, CRI, of Lacon, Ill., in a deep dive into the history of American shorthand machines on Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. Eastern. This live webinar will take you through time from the 1879 prototype created by Miles Bartholomew during America’s Second Industrial Revolution through the many changes and improvements to the stenotype and up to Stenograph’s pre-computer models.
“Vintage steno machines hold a certain fascination for many of us,” says Dittmeier. “In this presentation we will learn about the earliest American shorthand machines, the men who invented them, and the companies that manufactured them. We will discuss innovations that drove improvements in our machines over the course of a century and touch on the evolution of theories to meet changing career options and the growing use of technology.”
Dittmeier says she hopes that by the end of the webinar we will all “gain a deeper appreciation of the foundation our modern machines are built upon.”
