The National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF) understands that many of our members work in high-pressure, high-stress environments. The Foundation’s new Peer-to-Peer Support group was created by NCRA President-Elect Cindy Isaacsen, RPR, to foster a caring and confidential space on Zoom where NCRA members can openly share their emotions and reactions to the challenging cases they encounter in trials and depositions.
Isaacsen recognized the growing need for members to connect and process the emotional weight of their work. “Our profession is very demanding and oftentimes very stressful,” she says. “I feel that we need a safe space to connect and share with others who can understand the many challenges that we face daily. A peer support group is a great way to provide emotional support and offer strategies to help manage stress and anxiety and maintain mental health.”

Coach Bev Perez, MSW, is a former police officer who is certified in peer support and has specialized training in traumatic and work experiences. “The Peer Support initiative with NCRF members holds great significance for me because I have seen firsthand the transformative impact of peer support,” says Perez. “It reveals that we are not alone in our challenges and creates connections that unite us despite our differences. I am passionate about cultivating community and that is exactly what peer support does.”
“We are not alone”
“NCRF is honored to sponsor the start of this new Peer-to-Peer Support program,” says NCRF Chair Doug Friend, FAPR, RDR, CRR (Ret.). “We all agree that capturing the spoken word is a high-pressure profession, that we witness our neighbors’ struggles, and that it’s easy to feel isolated under that weight. Peer-to-Peer support sessions will aid all of us — court reporters, CART captioners, and legal videographers – to find a space to breathe and realize we are not alone. Together, we strengthen our resilience.”
Please be advised that ZoomUp sessions will not be recorded. All discussions will be facilitated by a licensed professional. By registering for a session, participants acknowledge and agree to maintain the confidentiality of shared information and discussions. The series of NCRF Peer-to-Peer Support does not provide CEU or PDC credit.
